Burnt beans but a truck lives!

I find myself putting too much on my plate lately. Along with a counseling session, add in a work-out, fixxing my friends truck, an AA meeting, communicating with my wife (long distance), and trying to put together a world-class batch of my "Nawlins White Beans and Rice" (pat. pending). Not everything is going as planned. My friend tried to drive his truck through a lake. Lesson learned! Needless to say, his motor was full of water. No easy task at hand, we had to drain all the fluids, remove the oil filter, loosen the spark plugs, and spray wd-40 into every crevace we could find. Soo, after 4 days, the truck which was forseen to never run again reathes fire. Unfortunately, I burnt my beans being outside workin on the truck! Nothing is more devastating to me than ruining my own, home-made meal. With all the time it takes to make these meals im putting together these days, no truck is worth the heart-ache. I want my beans back!

  2. I couldn't resist - this is what I was hearing in my head, to the tune of McDonald's Filet O'Fish commercial:

"Give me back my beans and rice, give me my beans - whooo!"

  3. Thats what you get when you cheat and use the quick soak method. The same is true for trucks.

  4. Right-brain time is like that. Makes everything else go away.
As a frequent victim of tunnel vision, I can tell you you have to set a timer.
